Black Knight
was a British Identity taken up by an American hero. Dane Whitman made his appearance in Eternals as a British hero played by Game of Thrones actor Kit Harrington. Dane is usually an American who took up his family's legacy as the Black Knight which was a mantle passed down each generation.
Dane Whitman or Black Knight is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The third character to bear the Black Knight name, he was created by writer Roy Thomas and artist John Buscema, and first appeared in The Avengers #47 (Dec. 1967). The original Black Knight's descendant and the supervillain Black Knight's nephew, he inherited a mystical sword that carried a curse and took the Black Knight name to help restore honor, and has been a long time member of the Avengers' various incarnations as well as the Defenders, Ultraforce, Heroes for Hire, and MI-13.
Dane Whitman was born in Gloucester, Massachusetts to a rich family. In his youth, he studied physics. Whitman is best known as the modern-day Black Knight, continuing a legacy that began in medieval England. The first Black Knight, Whitman's ancestor Sir Percy of Scandia, lived during the reign of
King
Arthur. Percy's murder at the hand of his nemesis Mordred began a string of successors, all of them Percy's descendants.

John Storm is a new breed of British super hero. Seen here with Dan Hawk, at the helm of the Elizabeth Swann. The formidable high tech duo discover they have no way to make it in the book or film world, but discover that they make excellent comic characters, ideal for publication as graphic novels. George Franks, mentor, is held to be a descendant of King Arthur, a knight of the fabled Round Table. The Swann's onboard weapons early warning and targeting system is called Merlin. The laser cannon; Excalibur. And the tazer anti-piracy boarding system: Pendragon.
